As most of you know I have recently returned from my missions trip in Bethany Village located in Uganda, Africa. God has done some amazing things in my life starting with choosing me from birth. I couldn't have asked for better family and friends to help me get to where I am today.
I left on October 31st, 2007 for my first mission trip and first time out of the country as well. The excitement within me was quite overwhelming, when the flight landed in London...I peered out the window like a child seeing an exciting place for the first time. (1/2 of our missions group left a few days early, therefore it was the 2nd 1/2 that met up with them in London) From London we continued on all 14 of us on God's Plan. Arriving in Narobi, Kenya for a small pit stop then onward to our final destination to Entebbe, Uganda to then drive to Ggaba and visit Ggaba Community Church. We continued onward by boat to Bethany Village. The sights and smells of this new found land was beaming through me. I couldn't stop smiling...how wonderful is the Lord! The people of Uganda greeted us with smiling faces and some unsure ones, until you greeted them they then let down their guard to show you their appreciation of you being there.
I quickly adapted to life in Uganda...it reminded me of camping with my family in Michigan...very laid back and welcoming. Truly everyone I met there was an instant connection between us...they allowed us into their hearts so easily and we greeted them into ours; some more caucious than others. Together we became known brothers and sisters in Christ...we became family. The children at the village...brilliant they all are with big dreams...I pray for them often to accomplish what they set themselves out to desire. The week spent with staff and children had opened my eyes; God used them to open my heart.
There is much to say about this mission, in the following days I will continue to add more, but wanted to get something out there for those who supported me to go and gave me encouraging words to take on this mission.

Having lived part of my childhood in Tanzania, East Africa, I so much understand you emotion regarding the wonderful people of Africa.
No matter what, most of the inhabitants, especially in the country side are always smiling at you and happy to see you. When I complain about something, or I am not happy in my moment, I think of some of the men, women and little children there, walking on the side of the road carrying a mattress on their heads, a huge sisal bag full of potatoes, a four gallon can of water and waving at you with a smile as you drive by!
